SUSTAINABILITY - RISK MANAGEMENT BY SYSTEMS THINKING

Jungle
The definition of sustainability is: The ability to be sustained, upheld and confirmed, i.e. not being harmful and staying relevant into the future. Because we understand organisations as living systems which depend on interrelated networks, we use the Realimiteit Tool to verify and test sustainability. This knowledge allows organisations to understand that entropy is inevitable if their foundation is not adaptive to change. We have to understand organisations as complex, adaptive arrangements and integrated and coherently functioning systems. Their long term existence depends on the connectivity and interaction of all activities and relationships.

We can narrow it down as follows: when something does not learn, it cannot adapt or balance its homeostasis. This is a scientific fact which inevitably leads to disorder, chaos and collapse. We are interested in the ‘non-linear’ effects which cannot be controlled. This principle of non-linearity can be understood through chaos theory as the butterfly effect.
